Coveted industry awards celebrate excellence

Date: 21 Oct 21

The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) has announced the winners of the 2021 Awards for Excellence, during an industry event held online on 21 October.

Australia’s largest commercial real estate services company, CBRE, has again been crowned Commercial Agency of the Year, ahead of finalists Nichols Crowder (Carrum Downs and Mornington) and Tiga Commercial.
In a hotly contested residential field, Noel Jones in Mitcham took out the Small Residential Agency of the Year, while Woodards (Manningham) got the Medium Residential Agency gong. OBrien Real Estate (Carrum Downs and Chelsea) is this year’s Large Residential Agency of the Year.

The REIV’s highly regarded Community Service Award went to non-profit firm, HomeGround Real Estate, and industry veteran Bill Di Donna from Gorman Kelly took home the President’s Award.

Adam Docking, REIV’s newly elected President, said that people and organisations able to excel in 2021 were exceptional.

“Finalists and winners of these coveted awards should be commended, not just for their excellence, but for the focus and professionalism they have held during such difficult times with seemingly ever-changing market conditions,” Mr Docking said.

“Our industry has demonstrated remarkable resilience over the past 12 months, proving how significant a contributor it is to the Victorian economy, and how important agents are to Victorians looking to realise their property goals.

“I extend huge congratulations to the indomitable Bill Di Donna, for securing the President’s Award this year.”
Gil King, the REIV’s outgoing CEO, reflected on what the event meant for people in the sector.

“It has to be said that staging this event digitally on the eve of COVID-19 restrictions easing in metropolitan Melbourne was quite apt and is hopefully a book-end to a challenging period” Mr King said.

“Seeing agents getting in the spirit despite their distance says a lot about them and is also symbolic of the way they have conducted themselves over the past year.

“No doubt we are looking forward to getting back to business as usual and making 2022 a stellar year.

“As I complete my tenure at the Institute, I thank our members and wish them and their teams all the very best as they emerge from the pandemic and forge a successful path ahead.”
