Frankston North is located 40 km south of the CBD. Located in Melbourne's outer southern suburbs Frankston North is a primarily residential suburb but features significant tracts of reserves parkland and golf courses such as the Peninsula Country Golf Course and The Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve. Like a number of suburbs in this part of Melbourne the population has decreased and aged significantly over the 1981-1996 period. A high proportion (31%) of the suburb's labour force is employed in the manufacturing sector.
