2013 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program
The REIV has launched a new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program on 2 February 2013. We have listened to your feedback and developed a tailored program with greater flexibility.
The program has been adapted to recognise both formal and informal learning opportunities, as we know that learning happens in a myriad of ways.
Training can be customised, selecting the relevant activities that suit your needs. Choose from activities such as large events with speakers, structured training, or contributing to REIV awards and events. You will also be able to complete selected training sessions online or via distance education. Our new CPD model will acknowledge your selections, providing you with credit points for each activity undertaken. The enhanced CPD system will recognise your commitment to professional development and supports the integrity of your membership.
Strengthening industry standards and performance
Developing a positive public perception of real estate practitioners is essential to the industry. The broader community expects that the requisite skills and knowledge have been obtained in order to deliver service to a professional standard.
Is CPD compulsory for your membership? Yes - Representative and Licensed members. No - Affiliate members, Retired/non practicing members, Interstate members, Life members, Student members.
Will I have to complete training that is not relevant to my real estate practice?
No. The one-size fits all approach has been replaced, enabling you to pick the activities that are relevant to your profession. A new flexible points system will be used, instead of the previous arrangement of one mandatory and one elective CPD.
How do I keep updated on new legislation?
As part of your membership, you will receive an overview of any changes to legislation. To assist your practice we will create recommended structured training. You can choose from completing the training in person or online, or the REIV can come to you.
Time frames and maintenance of CPD points
CPD points will be accrued annually. You must maintain 16 points per calendar year with a minimum of eight points accrued through REIV activity. The REIV will accept, subject to approval, activity undertaken by a third party provider up to eight points per calendar year.
Recording CPD points
You will be able to track your CPD points online, by visiting the REIV Education Portal. This will be available to members in early February 2013 when the new CPD program commences. If you complete any informal activities or non-REIV training which has been approved by the REIV, you will need to send an email to cpd@reiv.com.au for your records to be updated.
