Agent's Representative Course

Standard of Success

The first step in establishing a real estate career is to become an Agent's Representative. Agent's Representatives perform a variety of real estate roles under the supervision of a licensed estate agent.

Presented by industry professionals, this course will furnish you with the entry-level qualifications required to work in real estate.


Educational Requirements

The Agent's Representative course consists of the following three units of competency from the Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate):

  • CPPDSM4080A     Work in the Real Estate Industry
  • CPPDSM4007A     Identify legal & Ethical Requirements of Property Management to complete agency work 
  • CPPDSM4008A     Identify Legal & Ethical Requirements of Property Sales to complete agency work

This is a comprehensive course and students should expect intensive study modes and after-class reading.

Students are required to complete a written assessment for each unit, which is due two weeks after the end of the course. There are no tests or exams. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment outlining the competencies achieved. For a more detailed description of the units of competency click here.


Employment Requirements

In order to commence employment as an agent’s representative, you must meet the following requirements of the Business Licensing Authority (BLA):

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have a registered address in Victoria;
  • Pass the prescribed course, for which the REIV provides training;
  • Obtain an authority to act signed by the principal of the agency you will represent;
  • Present a police check not more than six months old;
  • Provide a Statutory Declaration confirming your eligibility to practice real estate. (Read the Statutory Declaration Information Sheet here);
  • Have your employer register you with the Business Licensing Authority.

Participants will be assessed through competency based training and will be required to perform set tasks at specified standards, under prescribed conditions.

A range of assessment methods will be used to enable participants to demonstrate competency.

Course Enrolment

You can enrol in the Agents Representative course either online, or by downloading the enrolment from below and sending in by fax, email or post.

What Qualification Will I Receive?

Upon successful completion of the Agent's Representative course and having been found competent in the assessment tasks for the three units you will be given a Statement of Attainment.

Course Format and Locations

Day Courses

The full-time day courses are five days in duration and run from 9.00am–5.00pm, Monday to Friday. There is a class starting almost every Monday in Camberwell, with courses run on selected dates in other regions. Please select the location below to view course dates and to enrol.

Part-time Evening Course

The part-time evening course is run in Camberwell and is five weeks in duration. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6.00pm–9.00pm during this period.

Distance Education

The Agent's Representative course can also be completed by Distance Education (DE) over a period of six months or less. The course materials and assessmnets are sent to you by mail. Please review the DE Info Sheet for further information regarding the DE process. Your Agent's Representative pack will be posted out within seven days of receiving your registration.
