About Training at the REIV
The REIV Learning and Development Department provides a diverse range of training and career development programs primarily for current and prospective real estate professionals. However, many of their programs are suited to learners in other industry sectors such as business administration, management, marketing, and sales.
A key facet of the department has been the provision of courses to support ongoing professional development in the industry.
This program range is extensive and includes:
Residential Property Management;
Commercial Property Management;
Owners' Corporation Management;
The delivery of accredited and nationally recognised courses as Registered Training Organisation #4042, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Specialist Courses are designed also to assist REIV Members in maintaining and growing their skills and knowledge base. The department maintains a keen focus on creating professional development programs that likewise meet the needs of real estate agents in regional Victoria. These courses are delivered in a face-to-face, distance or online mode or, in some cases, can be delivered in-house at your office. Specialist courses can also be tailored to meet the needs of individual agencies or large franchise groups.
For new entrants to the industry, the REIV provides entry-level courses including the Agent's Representative Course and traineeships in all qualifications below diploma level (including the Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) CPP40307, which is often referred to as the 'license course'). Both of these tracks provide an invaluable basis upon which new recruits develop their careers towards executive sales and property management positions.
The core qualification within our Scope of Registration of accredited and nationally recognised courses is the Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) CPP40307. This is the qualification needed to obtain an agent's license through the Victorian Businees Licensing Authority (BLA). It is made up of 24 units of competency (three of which are the units prescribed for the Agent's Representative Course). Each of these units has a written assessment that must be completed to a competent standard before a statement of attainment can be awarded. There are no exams. This delivery mode has proved extremely popular with industry professionals and continues to attract real estate practitioners who wish to fast-track their career development.
In 2014, the REIV commenced delivery of additional qualifications which are targeted at learner groups both winthin AND beyond the property services sector, such as the Certificate III in Business Administration, the Certificate IV in Frontline Management, the Certificate IV in Business Sales, and others. For full qualifications, the REIV is also able to assist students who are eligible for funding support through the Victorian Training Guarantee.
